About me

Hi, I’m Pat and I love all things travel and culture. When I’m not away on a trip I’m making the most of the cultural experiences in my own backyard. Nowadays that’s a small Surrey village just outside London, which means I have one of the best cities in the world on my doorstep!

For years I was asked for thoughts and tips about places I’ve been to and experiences I’ve enjoyed and spent many an hour writing emails in response. Eventually, I thought a better idea would be to capture all these thoughts and tips in one place that I could direct people to. It’s also a great way to create lasting memories of the many amazing adventures and experiences I’ve had.

I’m often asked which is my favourite place in the world, or the best trip I’ve done, and the answer is simple – there isn’t one, there are many. We all have to live somewhere, but we don’t have to stay there. The world is filled with awe-inspiring sites, fascinating cultures and amazing people.

But you don’t have to travel far to find new adventures and experiences, I find plenty to do close to home, often without spending a fortune. Reading a good book can be a great escape which is why I’ve run a monthly book club for many years. And a trip to a theatre, gallery or museum can be a trip to another world.

You just need to keep your eyes open and your ear to the ground. And of course, you can also keep reading my blog for inspiration and ideas!
